Winter Wildlife!!!

From Millan.Net

Soooooo my favorite time of year!!!!  Still working on finding a photography class I want to take and then I'll of course share pics more often. Here's one from last week though that I love!!!!

This beautiful gray fox visits us occasionally at night.  So I have no idea other than to put the camera setting on "night portrait" which says to put the flash up and then just click!  LOL  Isn't he cute???  Ok....hopefully more pics soon!!!  Meanwhile have a wonderful holiday season to my faithful blog reader!!!!  Hahahaha!!!

Summer Bud

From Millan.Net

Well...what a crazy summer....but I'm hoping to get more active in posting here.  I am enjoying taking photos even though I still REALLY have a lot to learn and am looking into some class possibilities!!

So here's a pic I happened to snap the other morning.  Summer is FAST coming to an end up here on the mountain!  And I'm sooooo happy about that!!  LOL

I just love flowers....and even though I do not like summer....I am very appreciative we have summers and beautiful flowers to make up for the heat!  LOL  I love all the little fuzzies that really pop on the leaves!!

Well...I have TWO amazing stamping friends who are each coming out soon for a week's visit and will be taking LOTS of photos!!!  So stay tuned!!

It's Hummer Time!!

From Millan.Net

Every summer hubby is just addicted to seeing all his hummingbirds....and I mean there are a LOT!  He calls them little flying piglets....cuz they are!  LOL  At peak time during July and August we can go through 2 gallons of sugar water a day!!  Here are some photos....

We have all 12 feeders hung on our top deck that is screened in and has no stairs.  Certainly not completely bear-proof, but since we did that we haven't had issues with bears climbing to get to the hummer feeders!  It's been a super busy summer...but I've got more photos to share so posts will be much more often....for the 2 of you who read this blog!  LOL  And I thank you that you do....it makes me smile!!!  HUGS to you!!!

Ahhhhh Sweet Nectar!!!

From Millan.NetFrom Millan.NetFrom Millan.Net

We have such amazing wildflowers up here on our mountain.....and I especially LOVE the variety of Columbines (our State flower) that we have that grow in a huge bunch along the front porch!!!  I was so surprised and very happy that I got a couple of neat shots today considering the wind kept blowing the poor bumblebee and butterflies around!  LOL  And I really need to learn about lighting since obviously I can't move the sun to a place where I get less shadowing!  Ha!

First let me say that I think actual bumblebees are adorable!!!  However I still am very careful when I'm around them cuz I don't want to be stung!  Then let's also admit how I DETEST wasps and yellowjackets and run and scream and hide and make hubby kill them!  LOL  Yep....just like my bro Sean keeps saying.....I know, I know.....I am SUCH a girl!  True dat!!  But isn't that bumbleebee just too cute??  And hey...he's making sure to pollenate my beloved Columbines so I'm very happy when we see these little guys!!

This shot was PURE dee ohhh luck!!!  I took quite a few where the wind and butterfly wings were just NOT cooperating!!  But somehow got this shot among them!!  LOL  I love the light coming thru the gorgeous wings!!  And how the purple flowers are not the focus but a bit blurred.  Yeah...let's just say I meant to do that and how talented I am!  Hahahaha!  Someday I will learn how to do that on purpose!  LOL  Now I'm not sure what this beauty is....we've always called them Monarch butterflies cuz they're orange and black....but I'm betting we're not right.  I'll see what Judy's husband says cuz he knows!!

I'm bummed though cuz we missed getting pictures of the baby foxes so far this year.  I have many from years past, but so far they've been rather shy and we've only had one glimpse of a little head popping out of the den and then refusing to come back out.  I also didn't have my camera on me (what is WRONG with me????) so I couldn't get a picture of mama fox hunting in the tall grass for some dinner while a magpie was chasing and cawing persistently at her!!  Well that will teach me to keep my camera with me at all times!!!

Now THAT'S a Moth!!!

From Millan.Net

Thanks for such a wonderful welcome on my photographic journey!!!  I'm excited about this and also hope to really learn a lot!!!

So......about today's photos...... there are some insects I like that are adorable....some I think are interesting but don't like so much and then some that terrify me!  LOL  Moths fall into the category of interesting and sometimes even pretty but I don't like them a whole lot.  Probably because we have times up here where we are FLOODED with moths and can't even open the front door without 287.6 moths flying into the house!!!

But....as my daughter and I stepped out onto the porch this afternoon this beauty was on the front door!  She carefully moved it to the bench and I just had to snap a few photos!!  It's HUGE!!!  And so pretty....actually fluffy!!

And a close up so you can see just how fuzzy and fluffy he is!!!

Those antennae are just soooo cool!  They look like feathers!!  Must be a throwback from 80's styling!!!  Ha!  Well...have a wonderful evening and catch ya later!!!

It's Me....PhotographicLee!!!!

From Millan.Net

I've absolutely fallen in love lately with photography!!  Oh yes...I've taken pictures for years!!!  Of course of the kids as they grew up....but we didn't have digital cameras for their early days....so on my To-Do List someday is to scan ALLLLL the pictures from those early days onto my laptop!  I think maybe some deep, dark, snowy month up here on my mountain I'll work on that!  LOL

I take pictures, of course, of my cards for all my Stampy work!  But I also love taking pictures of my mountains!!  We live in the Colorado mountains but work in Denver a few days a week, so travel back and forth.  So I have an abundance of wildlife, scenery, flowers....roadtrips....sometimes people....and I plan to take some online digital photography classes!  Maybe I can REALLY learn all the settings on my camera and just how to use Photoshop Elements to it's full!!!

Some of you may know me as Lee on Stamp TV who works for the amazing Gina K.  And also as LuvLee on Splitcoaststampers who works for the fabulous Lydia!!  I'm also an avid reader -  Hi to my Chicks......you all know who you are!!!  I've been so lucky to meet friends who have truly become family to me through stamping/scrapbooking/reading!!!  And I love to bake!!  I'm learning about essential oils to help with medical issues combined with meds unfortunately that are needed.  But let's NOT talk about that cuz I refuse to let health problems keep me down!!  I'm married to my best friend, a true Prince Charming and the most wonderful Husband and Father ever!!!  Well he does come from a pretty fabulous family with spectacular parents and siblings and extended family!!  Our two kids have grown and flown...thankfully not too far away!  Our daughter graduated college recently with a Graphic Arts Degree...and she designed my blog!  Our son just got married and lives nearby, so we are happy to have another daughter now added to our family!

So....that little intro is out of the way....this blog is just for me to learn and grow as a photographer.  It's just for fun....and for remembering this journey and this time in life where I can pursue an interest just because I want to!  Yes....sometimes I miss the days of homeschooling, toddlers, appointments, music lessons, family dinners, etc.  But I confess it's pretty awesome to have a quiet, tidy home and some time to myself!  LOL

I thought for a long time about a picture to use for my inaugural post on this blog.  And I think this one HAS to be the one!

Anyone who knows me knows I ADORE snow!!!  Winter is by far my favorite season!!!  Good thing too since we get a lot of snow!  I'm sure many, many of my photographs I share will be snowy ones...but I know I will enjoy finding the beauty in all of the seasons and in all of the places we visit!!

I hope you'll visit me sometimes and catch up on life's journey with me through the lens of my camera!!!
